50 Years Strong: TRINRE Gives Thanks
TRINRE Insurance Company Ltd celebrated its 50th anniversary with a thanksgiving service and awards ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad on September 19, 2026.
The evening paid tribute to the people behind the company’s success — acknowledging the clients who trusted TRINRE, the producers, reinsurers, partners and communities who have stood with it, and the employees who built its name.
The Hyatt was transformed into a sanctuary of thanksgiving, where religious leaders of the Hindu, Catholic and Muslim faiths engaged the audience in collective prayer and reflection: Father Emmanuel Dafe; Mahant Praim Daas Saaheb, President of the Satya Kabir Nidhi; and Imam Tariq Subhan. It was brought to life by historical videos, theatre and celebrations, featuring presentations by employees past and present, as long-standing employees were honoured for their service.
Gratitude: The People Behind the Milestone
Chairman, Mrs. Rani Lakhan-Narace saluted employees past and present: “All of you have helped to build the legacy that we stand on today.” She also thanked customers, partners, reinsurers and directors.
JN Group Chairman and Premier Group Chairman, Mr. Jerry Narace, opened his contribution by giving thanks to God and called TRINRE’s staff its greatest asset. He described them as hard-working, trustworthy people whose commitment reflected the organisation’s character and its care for the communities it serves. Through the TRINRE Foundation, the company has supported children, families and survivors across Trinidad and Tobago.
Legacy and Resilience: Five Decades of Change
TRINRE began as a reinsurer, created to strengthen the local insurance industry as international reinsurers scaled back in the Caribbean. In 1994 it pivoted to direct insurance and, after several ownership changes, was acquired and subsequently reinvigorated by the JN Group.
Strong governance, financial prudence, innovation and technology, commitment and resilience became its cornerstones. Those values have carried TRINRE through 9/11, the 2008 financial crisis, COVID-19, and the arrival of the new Insurance Act and IFRS 17 in 2024. Its triumphs included the establishment of Premier Insurance and Premier Life in Guyana.
Mr. Narace pointed to TRINRE’s strengths: no real debt, substantial reinsurance capacity and strong producer relationships. Both the TRINRE and Premier groups are A-rated. TRINRE is highly respected by all stakeholders and regulators, locally, regionally and internationally.
Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Sean Ayoung said: “A golden anniversary is more than a milestone… It is the work of people who know that reputation is earned slowly and protected every day.”
Guest speaker, Mr. David Watson, Director of Amwins International, reinsurance brokers to the TRINRE Group, said that despite its growth and success, TRINRE has remained firmly relationship-focused, highly respected and sought after, and represented lasting success built on trust.
Executive Director of TRINRE and Director of Premier Insurance, Mr. Vinai Narace, also addressed the gathering.
The Next Chapter
Fifty years is a foundation, not a finish line. Mr. Jerry Narace said he is filled with optimism as a vibrant team writes the next chapter with a passion to expand thoughtfully and sustainably, guided by TRINRE’s core purpose: to enable greater prosperity for those it serves.
He closed by saying: “We have navigated the expected and the unexpected. We have encountered challenges, adapted to change and, on every single occasion, emerged stronger.”
Chairman, Mrs. Lakhan-Narace closed with a call to carry the torch forward: “Let’s continue to build TRINRE together!”
